lemony snicket's series of...3

loved the movie so thought i'd read the books. while it is rather fun and has witty remarks and allusions, the irony of which, only adults would understand, the style is deliberately, and determinedly in a kiddy fashion. that means it's kind of repetitive, like the enid blyton books. For example, you'd have a baby who makes unintelligible noises followed always by "which probably means...(something quite inconceivably intelligent)" and the use of words not commonly found in a child's vocab followed always by "which here means....(an ironical inversion)". while that's not exactly a flaw and i'm sure i would've loved it were i reading this as a primary school kid, i found it a little tiresome after a while. j.k.rowling still rules! i have just reread all 6 of the harry potter books.
