chess is sexy

I have discovered the joys of chess, the various positions, the queen forking the knight and king (heh heh), trying to avoid being pinned down, after all I am a chess virgin. Learning to play chess (finally) does not stem from a desire to look intellectual, blame it on sleepy towns with no nightlife or cable tv.

My friend Brian taught me how to play and, with help from Joe, we actually beat him. Which was really really funny because he is an aggressive, advanced player who can spot moves way ahead. What can I say, he was a very good teacher. Anyhow, he's lent me Secrets of the Russian Chess Masters, vol 1, the fundamentals. It looks imposing, but I will try my best.
