emergency sex - anyone else read it?
I was a bitty bit disappointed with it - mainly because I thought the protagonists were all incredibly whiney. anyone else?
heheh, trying to see if mirili will go back to discussing books that we've all read - right now everyone is reading everything else but the common books.

the only thing I am reading now is pathology heh heh... not sure if anyone else wants to talk about nasty pictures... whole LT actually squirms during the powerpoint presentation. The syphilis one is enough to make you monogamous. Brrrrr. Trust me, it's a lot more glamorous on House.
I haven't read any of the books you guys mentioned so can't discuss much... what about
1) we expand our discussion to films?
2) we nominate a book that we all try to read?
I'm still in the middle of We Did Nothing, and haven't started on Emergency Sex yet.
We Did Nothing is extremely harrowing, and will definitely make one extremely pissed with the Clinton Administration for what it did to countries like Rwanda and Haiti, i.e. prevent the UN from fulfilling its duties and then blaming the UN when catastrophe occurs.
The author of We Did Nothing, a Dutch journalist, was actually in Rwanda during the genocide, and her first-hand account of her and the UN peacekeepers' desperate attempt to help the victims is truly gut-wrenching. (e.g. There was a part where they were wondering how to help a victim who had his head split open; they decided to keep him upright so his brains won't fall out.)
heh. i like option 2. unless u all dont mind getting subjected to posts on bollywood films.
since im in india (what my bf likes to call 'where even birds don't want to lay eggs' - chinese idiom lah), most of the books in the exchange shops are about erm india or the region, im afraid. i've got Brick Lane by Monica Ali and City of Djinns by William Dalrymple.
Movies are okay, and we did talk about Brokeback Mountain.
As for books, it'll have to depend on whether all of us can get hold of the same book. e.g. the book supply here in Phnom Penh is basically at the mercy of pirates as well as foreigners who sell their books.
